THE Holsworthy Army Cadets now have the opportunity to train to save lives thanks to a locality grant from Devon County Councillor for Holsworthy Rural Barry Parsons, which has enabled the detachment to purchase a training defibrillator.

On presenting the equipment Cllr Parsons said: “Many of us know that the availability of, and, the skills to use an automated defibrillator for first responders can mean the difference between life and death. With around 30,000 cardiac arrests a year in the UK and the highly rural nature of our local communities in and around Holsworthy it makes it even more important for our communities to have such access and associated skills.

“It is, then, with some considerable pleasure that I have been able, again, through the allocation of a locality grant from Devon County Council to support our Holsworthy detachment of the Devon Army Cadet Force (ACF) to purchase a training defibrillator.

“It was wonderful to see senior cadets demonstrating the use of the device last week as well as the enthusiasm of those learning how to use it. I am sure that the acquisition of the training device will at some stage be very much appreciated.

“Well done to all at Holsworthy ACF! Keep up the brilliant work.”
