Thanks to the support of local customers, the staff at Waitrose Holsworthy store were delighted to present a cheque for £300 to North Devon Hospice.

As part of the store's community matters programme, shoppers and employees chose North Devon Hospice as one of three charities to raise money for. Customers then placed a counter in a box after check-out to indicate their favoured charity. In just one month this equated into a donation of £300 from Waitrose to North Devon Hospice.

The cheque was presented to Rebecca Worth, from North Devon Hospice's fundraising team. She said: "We are so grateful to the shoppers of Holsworthy and the surrounding area. Their generosity will make a real difference to families in their community. We would like to thank everyone who nominated us to receive Waitrose support, and the staff who made the decision to raise money for such a worthwhile, local charity."

She added: "North Devon Hospice provides free care and support to families dealing with the impact of life-threatening illness. Our community nurse specialists travel all over North Devon and Torridge (including Holsworthy) providing support to patients, and their carers and families, in their own homes. By choosing to support North Devon Hospice, you are helping us to provide our specialist care and support to those who need it most."
