THE proposed levels for the Redrow houses on Holsworthy Old Showground have been described as 'excessive' and
concern has been raised that the houses will be significantly high in relation to the site.
Holsworthy resident, Paul Bere, who is familiar with the proceedings of the development, felt the proposed levels for the houses on plots 120 to 124 and 125 to 132 on the south side of the development of the Vineyards, are excessively high.
During public question time, he explained to councillors at the Holsworthy Town Council meeting (October 5), that the proposed finish floor levels are 1.3 metres above current ground levels and would be eight foot (2.4 metres) above the gardens in the Vineyards.
Housing developer, Redrow hopes to complete 140 units by 2014 and the first phase is for 61 units. This would consist of a mix of two, three and four bedroom houses.
Mr Bere said: "As you can no doubt see, the first phase is being developed and it is a blot in the landscape which is much higher."
He spoke of the meeting held in July, where it was agreed with Redrow that markers would be put in place visualising the housing plots, but this had never materialised.
At July's town council meeting, Andrew Dicker (Senior Project Manager for Redrow Homes South West) stated: "We have agreed to set out markers on our side, then people can picture what it will look like."
