A HOLSWORTHY quilter has taken first place at a national show.

The Malvern Quilt Show is one of the top shows in the country for quilters and at this year's show, held over the weekend May 17 to 20, Mrs Jeanette Orr from Holsworthy won two 1st places.

Her depiction of six Can- can dancers entitled 'Les Danseuses' won the award for humour and an abstract modern design entitled 'Simply Curves' won first in the miniature section.

With a background in dressmaking and design, she took up quilting in earnest while living in Australia and she has continued since returning to the UK as a member of the Parkhouse Patchwork Club of which she is chairman.
