HOLSWORTHY Town Council set the precept for 2009/10 at their meeting on Wednesday, December 3.

Under the budget for 2009/10, agreed by the council, there would be an increase of £4,038 to the precept, taking it to £43,618.

However, the Finance and General Purposes Commit­tee had recommended the precept be increased by 2.5 per cent for a current Band D property which would take it to £41,920.

The shortfall of £1,697 is going to be treated as a project and paid for by the council.
