HOLSWORTHY Police inquiry office is to be closed under cost-cutting measures but Bude, Launceston, Camelford and Okehampton Police Stations will maintain the service to the public.
Devon and Cornwall Police say that the closure of 30 public access front desks at police stations will save £5-million over four years — the equivalent of 36 police officers. Others may have their hours of opening altered. About 60 civilian jobs will be lost.
Holsworthy Mayor, Cllr Richard Brown commented on the news: "I think it is absolutely disgraceful, it is totally shocking and another slap in the face for rural residents. It will make contact harder than it already is, Torridge and North West Devon are neglected and mistreated and the closest manned station is at Barnstaple."
