HOLSWORTHY Police have regained a full complement of staff, it was reported at a meeting of the town council on Wednesday, February 4.
Sgt Pennie Channing informed councillors that as of that day they were 'back up to a full strength of staff.' As well as herself, Sgt Channing said Holsworthy now had six police officers, three Police Community Support Officers and a station enquiry officer.
She commented: "We can now all get more involved in pro-active stuff and not just reactive."
Sgt Channing reported that January had been a particularly quiet month in the town with only four reported crimes: "It was one of the lowest months we have had since I've been here."
The four crimes included an assault on an off-duty police officer, theft, a domestic incident involving an assault, and criminal damage on a motor vehicle.
Even though it had been a quiet month in terms of crime, Sgt Channing said the police had attended several incidents, including road traffic collisions which had occurred as a result of the bad weather.
Following the success of last year's event, dates have been set for this year's police fun days. The town event will be held on Wednesday, September 16 and the rural fun day will this year be held in Bradworthy in May.
