THE Dartmoor Rescue Team was involved in the search for a missing Holsworthy man who was eventually found safe and well on Thursday, March 12.
Damon Rackley, 42, from Holsworthy, left his accommodation — a home for adults with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour — at around 8pm on Wednesday, March 11. He was reported missing to the police at around 10.30pm.
The police and other emergency services were extremely concerned about the welfare of the missing man who was described as high risk due to his vulnerable nature. The gentleman suffered from asthma and diabetes and was not thought to have taken suitable medication with him.
Police used resources overnight, including dogs, to search the surrounding rural areas, including woods and bogs, but to no avail. The search continued at first light last Thursday morning with the assistance of the Dartmoor Rescue Team who also used dogs to aid in the search and the RAF SAR helicopter.
Damon was found safe and well not far from where he went missing on Thursday morning.
