The judging for the Holsworthy in Bloom competition took place during St Peter's Fair week. This year's competition was expanded to include residential gardens as well as commercial premises. Nine private gardens and seven businesses entered the competition. The judges were Mayor Elizabeth Squire, Portreeve Russell Dymond and Mr Courtney Drew. Cllr Squire said it was "wonderful" that nine people had entered their gardens and added: "There are a lot of very keen gardeners in Holsworthy. Hopefully more will come forward next year." The residential garden winners were: Gold Ann Kivell; Silver — Marleen Wyatt; Bronze — Maria Gent and Ronald Bassett. The winners of the commercial category were: Gold — White Hart Hotel; Silver — Buckinghams; Bronze — Maralyn at Moores.
