HOLSWORTHY?Hamlets Flower Club held a big breakfast to raise money on Saturday, October 9.
The money raised from the day went towards the club's chosen charity Breast Cancer Awareness and towards the flower club.
The day was a resounding success with over 160 breakfasts being served to two sittings of 80 people.
A games table was set up and tables were decorated with arrangements which were then sold at the end of the day.
It was a long day for those involved, with helpers setting tables up at 7am and finishing serving breakfasts at around 1pm. There was also a stall with homemade cakes, jams and chutneys for sale.
The Hamlets flower club is made up of around 30 members who meet the second Tuesday of the month for ten months of the year.
This was the second breakfast that the club has held as they try to hold a fundraising activity every year. This allows the club to pay for costs, including expenditures from demonstrations.
Chairman Jackie Allen, hailed the breakfast as a great success, she said: "It was a really lovely morning and everyone enjoyed it."
Money raised from the morning, including from the raffle, raised £374 for the Breast Cancer Awareness campaign and £500 for Holsworthy Hamlets Flower Club.
Last year the club chose to support the North Devon Hospice.
They meet in the Sunday School room of Bodmin Street Chapel in Holsworthy and the presentations are varied and it is open to everyone.
Over the next few months, the club are preparing for the festive season with Christmas demonstrations, a programme can be obtained in the Southbourne Cook Shop & Catering Supplies in Holsworthy.
