At a recent school competition held at Kingsley College, Holsworthy Gymnastic club (which is celebrating its first anniversary in April) took teams and individuals from Bude, Bradworthy, Bradford, Holsworthy, Pyworthy and Stratton Primary Schools and Holsworthy Community College.
The competition was open to gymnasts at novice and intermediate level (novice one hour of gymnastics a week and intermediate more than one hour). As it was the first time for the majority of these schools to take part in this event the gymnasts did exceptionally well with gold, silver and bronze medals won. Coaches and parents were very proud of the effort and enthusiasm that was shown by all.
The results were: Novice under age seven girls: Bradworthy Team A (Sophie Hudson, Lauren Nancekivell and Libby Rayment) winning gold and Bradworthy Team B (Evie Purl, Eleanor Phillips and Cerys Lewis) winning silver. Novice under age nine girls: Bradworthy Team A (Libby Purl, Cara Phillips, Holly Nancekivell and Lucy Poole) winning silver. Novice under age 11 girls Holsworthy Team A (Zoe Martin, Yasmine Honey and Grace Mitchell) winning silver and Holsworthy Team B (Chelsea Cowland, Charlotte Heard and Katherine Watson) winning bronze. individual results were as follows: Novice under age seven girls: Lauren Nancekivell (Bradworthy) winning bronze. Novice under age nine girls: Riley Gifford (Bude) winning bronze. Novice under age 11 girls: Amy Wallace (Pyworthy) and Zoe Martin (Holsworthy) winning bronze. Novice under age 11 girls: Jo Wood (Bradford) winning gold. Intermediate under age nine girls: Kylie Piper (Stratton) winning bronze.
