HOLSWORTHY has received equipment to distribute grit on roads and pavements in the town during adverse weather conditions, despite the town council rejecting previous offers.
Leader of Torridge District Council and councillor for Holsworthy Rural, Barry Parsons said: "It is so important that we look after people in this area."
He had previously approached the town council with an offer to provide two gritters for the town, but councillors turned down his proposition due to extra costs that would be imposed by having the equipment.
Despite this, Cllr Parsons felt strongly that the town would be in need of the equipment and as a result Cllr Michael Footitt, Torridge District Councillor for Holsworthy, has answered the call for a volunteer snow warden in the town.
