Last Wednesday a Holsworthy resident became the victim of a distraction burglary when two men, posing as builders, entered a house and while one engaged the attention of the owner, the other stole money.

Both men were white, one said to be in his twenties, the other in his forties. Reporting the incident to the Holsworthy Comm­unity Forum, PC Mandy Brown urged people to be alert and not allow strangers into their home.

If anyone suspects they are confronted with a bogus caller, they should immediately dial 999.
