Two volunteers of the Holsworthy Day Centre retired last week after 34 years of service between them.
Sylvia Tremeer joined the Day Centre at the start when it opened in 1992 and in addition to being a volunteer has used her considerable culinary skills in the kitchen whenever the regular cook was away.
Fanny Cole joined two years later and has often deputised for the manager as well as helping with the catering.
Last Thursday, the manager Ann Jose, the deputy manager and 15 of the volunteers had the opportunity to express their appreciation to the two ladies when they had lunch together at Trencreek Farm House, St Gennys and there were further presentations in the Manor Suite during the week and at the dance evening in the Memorial Hall on Saturday evening.
Ann Jose said both Sylvia and Fanny will be greatly missed and hard to replace. She appealed to anyone with a little time to spare, to consider being a volunteer. She can be contacted on 01409 254677.
