HOLSWORTHY Town Council has agreed to back Torridge District Council over the relocation of the cattle market.

At the Holsworthy Town Council meeting on June 1, Cllr David Smith explained his proposal to, in principle, the lending of some of the council's cash reserves to Torridge District Council, as part of a bridging loan to support the relocation of the market.

Commenting, he said: "As most should know, the relocation of the cattle market is all going swimmingly but the government wouldn't put forward financial support.

"I think we should be keen and as helpful to Torridge District Council as possible and since we do have the funds then we should go ahead in principle and put some of our reserves towards it."
