AMBITIOUS plans for improvements to their premises and facilities, drawn up by the leaders of the Holsworthy Pre-school Playgroup, have received the approval of Holsworthy Town Council.
The playgroup has been operating in its own purpose built premises in Rowland Gardens for over 30 years and is run by a voluntary management committee. It is open on five days a week and is currently attended by 32 children aged from two-to-five-years-old, with a maximum of 16 attending each day.
Secretary Hannah Piper said: "After more than 30 years our premises have grown old and run down and in need of some 'tlc'. To create more space we want to extend and improve the lay-out of the building and upgrade the facilities to include a new kitchen and toilets with disabled facilities.
"We shall also need a new roof on which solar PV (photovoltaic) panels will be installed and we plan to heat the building with an air source heat pump. Outside there will be a newly designed play area with a sensory garden, an area for growing vegetables, sand pit and ride-on toys as well as an outside all weather play area."
