HOLSWORTHY Community College students have triumphed over Tavistock at netball.

Tavistock had the first centre pass to start the Year 7 game, but some excellent defending from Chloe Fry saw her intercept a crucial pass into the circle, gaining possession for Holsworthy.

The ball was then quickly passed on to Sophie Oke, who didn’t waste the opportunity to take the lead. It was a tough match, and Holsworthy battled hard throughout.

When the final whistle blew, the score was 11-9 to Holsworthy Community College. Players felt a roar of pride and were very happy to have won. They are looking forward to wearing their new dresses for the next match.

The Year 8 netball team triumphed, winning 12-7. There was some great shooting from Gabby Moran, Jess Wellington and Becky Palmer.

There were three players of the match, Eve Langman, Alex Moore and Katie Grigg.

A spokesperson for the college said: “Well done, Year 8 superstars!”

What a game! The Year 9 team played Tavistock away on November 1 and won 11-10. It was a close game that came down to a nail biting finish.

Hester was named as player of the match, as she was unstoppable in defence.

Sophie Hudson and Georgia Stevens showed a great form, netting all the goals.

Tavistock took the lead in the first quarter in the Year 10 game, but this all changed in the second quarter, ending in 11-10 to Holsworthy Community College. There was some excellent play around the circle, which saw the school extend the lead further, although it was a competitive game. At one point, Maddy and her opponent were wrestling over the ball.

The game ended 24-16 to Holsworthy Community College. Sophie Powell was voted as player of the match.

The Year 11 dream team continued their unbeaten run, winning 50-7 against Tavistock’s Sixth Form team.

It was a super team effort with everyone playing well. Player of the match was Brooke Rowe.
