OVER 100 students attended the Holsworthy Community College Prom on a beautiful summer evening at the Falcon Hotel, Bude, on Friday, July 2.
Staff and students all looked extremely smart and the evening was enjoyed by all in the best possible spirit.
Assistant Head of Year 11 and event organiser, Hannah Rockliffe-King, said: "The evening was a massive success. It was a perfect summer evening and the students behaved exceptionally well.
"It was definitely the best prom night I have experienced – everything was just absolutely fabulous."
She added: "I'd like to thank Sarah Youldon, Rebecca Priest and Sam Nichols (prom committee) for their wonderful efforts in making the night such a memorable one."
Testament was also paid by all to head of Year 11, Mrs Goldthorp, who was making her last prom night appearance as she will be retiring next year.
Certificates were handed out for the 'three best arrivals', awarded for those who made an exceptional effort with their entrance.
The winners were Jed Tubby and Timmy Hasset for rowing Hannah and Ruth Musson along Bude Canal to the hotel entrance, Lisa Bendall, Emma Taylor-Luxton and Laura Shoebottom for coming in an old fire engine and, most unusually, Matt Taylor for pushing Hollie Prouse to the Falcon in an empty bath tub.
Other noticeable entrances were made in golf buggies, a 'party van', an army truck and a horse drawn carriage.
A number of other awards were handed out to Tristan Birch and Charlotte Raffe (most stylish couple), George Merritt (best dressed boy) and Demi Lee (best dressed girl), whilst Leo Wintercrane, Kat Petherick, Nikita Lane, Dave Heywood, Matt South and Mark Phillips were all acknowledge as being 'stars' of the evening.
Ashley Buse and Jordan Gerry had the evening's biggest honour bestowed upon them, as they were announced Prom King and Queen.
The awards were decided upon by Year 11 tutors, including the year-head and assistant-head, Falcon Hotel staff and the college headteacher.
