A PUPIL from Holsworthy Community College has been recognised for his outstanding potential as a future engineer.

Hugo Hannaford, who was among 25 per cent of students gaining at least three A* or A grades in his GCSEs, was awarded The Dulverton Trust Arkwright Scholarship recently.

The Arkwright scholarship is awarded in schools for students to study A-levels which back engineering studies at university.

Scholars are selected following a rigorous selection process comprising an application, Arkwright Aptitude Paper and interview. During the interview, students presented their GCSE project work to a panel of interviewers.

Hugo achieved A* in technology and is now at Exeter College studying two maths subjects and three sciences at A-level.
