THE annual parade of all things agricultural were among the many offerings at the Holsworthy and Stratton Show - and not even the unpredictable weather could truly influence proceedings as many gathered for the day’s events.
A fixture in the cross-Tamar social calendar, this year’s event featured a range of tents and displays alongside the centrepiece of the shows taking place.
It was the latest edition of a show with a long running history. Established in 1883, it remains a fundamental part of the local rural calendar with the organisers stating that they are ‘very proud of our traditional roots and the show offers a unique mix of tradition along with the most modern of farming technology.’
It offers the opportunity for local businesses to come and show their wares, with the show having over 250 trade stands on the day, offering everything from handmade jewellery to top of the range tractors.
Livestock exhibitors come from far and wide to compete their best animals, we are very proud of the quality livestock which attends the show. Our main parade is always the highlight of the day and is a sight to behold.
The HTC stall showcased photos from events held between 2024 to 2025, provided information about the duties and responsibilities of the three tiers of local government in Holsworthy (Devon County Council, Torridge District Council and Holsworthy Town Council) and offered a survey to gain an understanding of residents’ priorities, along with a sign-up sheet for volunteers.
“Holsworthy Town Council would like to thank everyone who visited our stall and completed a survey, at Holsworthy and Stratton Agricultural Show. Congratulations Margaret Matthews for winning the produce jamper which was kindly donated by Holsworthy Waitrose and Perkin Butchers.”
