HENGAR Manor Country Park in St Tudy has gifted two families affected by the Thomas Cook liquidation a holiday in their luxurious lodges.

The park has generously offered free holidays to two families who have been affected by the collapse of travel agency giant Thomas Cook and are no longer able to go on their booked trips abroad.

On September 23, news broke that the travel agency Thomas Cook, originally founded in 1841, had collapsed, leaving thousands of people without employment and customers unable to attend their holidays abroad — or get back to the UK if they had already flown out there.

Hengar Manor put out an appeal on their Facebook page, stating that they were ‘deeply saddened’ to hear of the situation, and that they would like to offer two families who were due to fly out for a holiday with the travel agency a free four-night holiday or a three-night break.

All people needed to do was message the page until 2pm that day with their phone number and ensure their original holiday confirmation was to hand, and two winning families were picked at random and booked in for their free holiday.

A spokesperson for Hengar Manor said: “We responded to enquiries this morning and wanted to give something back to those who had been affected. We’re well aware it may not be quite the same as the original getaway, but hopefully it gives an alternative way for them still to have a holiday with us!”
