A welcome break in the weather meant the start of a busy weekend at Launceston Golf Club.

On Saturday the members played the second Turkey Trot. This time it was a three man team event with two scores to count.

With the course playing long, the scoring was relatively low, as the results show. Chris James took a brand new club out of his bag on the 9th hole, took the wrapping off the head and proceeded to knock the ball straight into the hole for a 'hole in' one, he thinks he'll keep the club for a while.

Result: 1st, A Creber, R. Boggis and D. Reynolds 73pts

2nd, D Jasper, T. Collins and D. Price 70pts; 3rd, T Pescod, C James and C Jasper 69pts; 4th P Hatto, L Saxon and P Davey 69pts

On Sunday, after one cancellation and one abandoned attempt, the first round of the Winter League was played. A frosty morning meant a delayed start, which gave the members more time to wake up and consequently turn in some very good scores. The format was a better ball stableford.

Result: 1st, R Kellow and M Briggs 46pts; 2nd, M Cornish and D Basford 46pts; 3rd, D & J Harrison 45pts; 4th, N Gerry and J Baker 45pts.
