LAUNCESTON were very unlucky not to take all three points from this match when a late equaliser from St Austell left Launceston feeling hard done by, writes Vicki Banks.
Launceston started brightly and controlled the first half keeping possession well and pushing forward. Launceston's goal came from a short corner when Janine Pethick struck the ball well from the top of the D straight into the left hand corner. Launceston kept the pressure on St Austell and went into half time confident and feeling they could increase their lead.
The second half saw St Austell up their game and Launceston did concede a couple of short corners however Launceston were solid in defence with Jane Gardner, Ali Bailey and Faith Chevannes ensuring Rachel Sleep on her come-back in goal had very little to do.
Launceston were working really well as a team and some great solo runs by Janine made them look the more likely to score. Launceston did have a few strikes on goal but again seemed to lack numbers in the D and couldn't find that second goal to put the game beyond St Austell.
After defending well all game it was a real shame that Launceston gave away a short corner in the dying seconds and were unlucky to see St Austell's deflected shot end up in the top corner of the goal.
Launceston really deserved to get a win from this game but definitely have plenty of positives to take from it with a fantastic team effort and some great individual displays.
