A FORMER quarry and refurbished engine house has been sold for double its guide price — along with an unusual daffodil condition.

The Prince of Wales engine house and Trewarmett Quarries near Tintagel went under the hammer with regional land and property auctioneers Clive Emson last Thursday at St Mellion International Resort.

The historic property beat an estimated guide price of £40,000 to £50,000 for a 999-year lease, when it sold for £81,000.

The new owner from North Devon will also have to fulfil the unusual condition of paying the Duchy of Cornwall an annual ground rent of one daffodil.
