LAST Thursday, Ray Burman, the President of Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland (the most senior Rotarian in the country), visited Launceston, accompanied by his wife Vicky and Rotary District Governor Maxine Stoyel, to visit the Launceston Rotary Club's Community Shop which was opened on August 1.

Only a week before his visit the Rotarians had handed out cheques totaling £4,500 to eight local organizations, the money representing the profit from the shop's first month of trading. President Burman was welcomed by the President of the Launceston Club Leighton Penhale and other Rotarians.
