RDA DUCHY recently held a community awareness and fundraising day at Tesco in Launceston, with the ambassador-in-chief, Henry, joining the many volunteers on the day.

At 21 years of age, Henry is now retired from active service with RDA, but was happy to come and meet the public at this special event.

RDA Duchy is a volunteer organisation based at Duchy College, serving east Cornwall and west Devon. Approximately 30 volunteers provide weekly riding classes for 18 riders aged seven to 60 and over.

Riders often live with both physical and psychological challenges, including autism, profound deafness, down’s syndrome, motor neuron disease and various learning difficulties. The organisation aims to provide life-changing benefits to as many young people and adults as possible, helping them to reach therapeutic goals, gain confidence, overcome social isolation, develop life skills, experience a new environment and connect with animals.

For those interested in volunteering or wanting to ride with RDA Duchy, visit the website www.rdaduchy.org or contact Dea at 01579 370090.

The next community awareness day will be held on Saturday, August 27 from 10am until 4pm at Cornwall Farmers in Tavistock. The public is welcome to meet Henry and other volunteers.
