HUMBERTS have recently completed on the sale of two farms and several parcels of land during September, as well as agreeing the sales of two other farms during the same month, including a site near Boscastle.

Humberts has sold about 240 acres of land and farm buildings at Helsett Farm, located near Boscastle.

Jessica Hext, land agent from Humberts in Truro, said: “The farm attracted interest from local farming purchasers looking to expand their existing farming businesses, together with regional purchasers attracted by acreage and location of the holding.

“Interest was received in both the farm as a whole — including a house and holiday letting cottage — as well as just the land and former dairy buildings. The land and buildings were eventually sold to a local purchaser, with the vendor retaining dwellings.”

Additionally, Hurley Farm, comprising a 109 acre residential and livestock farm close to Taunton, was offered to the market from May this year with a guide price of £1,500,000.

Twenty acres of land has also been sold at West Bagborough, which sold in several lots to local equestrian type purchasers, attracted by the location of the land onn the Quantock Hills, the views and the proximity.

David Hebditch, head of Humberts rural and commercial division, said: “It is good to see strong demand in the farmland market continuing. Following the vote to leave the European Union, there has been a lot of negative commentary in the press about the impact on farmland values.

“We have not yet seen any significant impact; with a continued limited supply, we can see prices remaining in the region of current levels over the next six to 12 months.”
