ANOTHER fantastic Tintagel Carnival week drew to a close on Saturday, August 6, including the ever-popular Grand Carnival Parade.

Starting from Bossiney and wending its way through the village and back, over 40 brilliant entries — five more than last year — and marching bands entertained a packed village crowd.

The overall carnival winning entry was ‘Heavens Got Talent’ by Landa Lawley and friends, who also won the Best Comedy Award.

The best dressed collector trophy was jointly won by Sue Waite and Maureen Turner as Mexicans.

Phil Aston, vice chairman of Tintagel Carnival said: “What a fantastic carnival parade, a big thank you to all the entries for their fantastic carnival committee and volunteers for all their hard work and the village crowd for digging deep into their pockets to help raise money to allow the carnival to continue.

“A big thank you this year goes to Rafael Krasnodebski of The Malt House for setting up the brilliant Tintagel Carnival Radio which ran for the whole week, aided by work experience boy, roving reporter and techno dudes. Another big thank you goes to Diane Gardner who is leaving the committee and village to start a new chapter in her life in Falmouth — she will be missed.”

The committee is also appealing for new members for next year’s Carnival Week.

Mr Aston added: “Next year more than ever we are in need of new committee members to organise and run carnival week. Come on Tintagel, if you want a carnival next year we need you to volunteer, come forward and join the committee — no volunteers, no carnival!”
