I AM writing in connection with last week's letter in the 'Post' regarding the 10 per cent rise the majority of Bude Town Councillors chose to inflict on its tax payers.

Surely they are aware of the extremely tough financial conditions pensioners are experiencing with vastly increased fuel and heating bills coupled with the reduced income we receive due to building society rates falling dramatically and likely to fall even further.

All businesses and indeed nearly every one will have to make strict economies in the hard times that lie ahead, so why not Bude Town Council? Thanks to the writer of last week, we now know the names of the heartless councillors who voted for the 10 per cent rise, and I hope the voters of Bude will remember their names at the next council elections.
