A PUBLIC hearing regarding future plans for the NHS is due to take place in Crackington Haven in January.

Those attending will hear about the sustainability and transformation plan (STP).

The plan says, ‘we are talking about the biggest reforms to the health and social care system since the creation of the NHS’.

Cornwall’s STP aims to cut £221-million from health and social care. That may mean reducing the number of community hospitals and minor injuries units, and will mean other big changes.

NHS Kernow has said it will listen to the public’s response to the STP. A meeting, due to be held on Saturday, January 7, will allow members of the public to learn what the STP contains, to ask questions and to make their voices heard.

Speakers at the event include Rob Rotchell, Cornwall Councillor and chair of the Health and Adult Care Overview and Strutiny committee; Deborah Hopkins, a nurse representing Keep Our NHS Public and Unite; and a representative from NHS Kernow.

Members of the public are encouraged to attend the event at the Crackington Institute from 2pm on Saturday, January 7.
