HOLSWORTHY Primary School pupils will be preparing healthy lunches for their parents on Tuesday, May 19, as part of their Healthy Eating Day.

The primary school has this year decided to focus on healthy eating. The children have been learning about the importance of a balanced diet, based on 'The Healthy Eating Plate'.

Healthy Eating Day will give the children an opportunity to prepare a healthy lunch for their parents. Each class will have a budget to purchase and prepare lunch (the School Council organised a non uniform day to help fund this, and the 'council run' healthy tuck shop profits also contributed to this).

At 12pm parents will be able to go and share a picnic style lunch outside in the school grounds.

A spokesman for the school said: "We hope this will be exciting and enjoyable for the children as well as the parents."

During the afternoon, for the parents only, the school will be hosting healthy packed lunch food demonstrations in the hall from local chefs Dez Turland (Brend Hotel Group) and Paul Leaky (Carlyon Bay Hotel, St Austell) and a number of local food outlets who are keen to show off their healthy lunch box choices.

There will also be an opportunity to sample exotic fruit and vegetables.
