THE Camelford Walkers enjoyed a walk from Crackington Haven through the Ludon Valley last Thursday, July 10.
Ten people, including one new member, donned walking boots and accompanied by two of their dogs strolled through the shady valley, up to Trevigue with magnificent views inland, and on to the coastal path where they walked all the way back to Crackington Haven in glorious sunshine.
Butterflies, birds, insects — including a Burnet moth feeding on birds foot trefoil — and plants, and goats, were noted and admired.
The walkers were revived by tea and cake at the Cabin before returning to Camelford in Camelford’s Welfare Bus, the gift of the late Dorothy Hannaford.
Current members live in Camelford and surrounding villages and towns and vary in age from their 50s to 90s. They walk for pleasure and friendship and for their health and fitness most Thursday afternoons, alternating between local walks and away walks. Local walks meet at the Old Bank in Camelford from 12.45pm to leave at 1pm and away walks meet at the Churchfield car park for the same timings and often using the minibus.
New members are made welcome. To join contact Helen on 01840 212161 or email [email protected] for more information or to be added to the mailing list.
