THE nation truly came together last night as people took to their doorsteps, gardens and windows to have a round of applause for the NHS.
The ’Clap for Carers’ campaign asked everyone across the UK to have a round of applause at 8pm — whether it was from the entrance of their doors, in their gardens, or from living room windows — to celebrate the work of the NHS and its staff, who are tackling Covid-19 every day.
The emotional tribute was felt everywhere. In the Post area, we experienced it from Launceston to Camelford, and across the border into Devon, with people filming the incredible scenes around them and posting the footage to social media channels.
Elsewhere, the Queen, the young royals and Prime Minister Boris Johnson all joined the national effort to thank the NHS workers and carers.
Afterwards, the NHS said it was an ’emotional’ moment.
