PRIME Minister Boris Johnson has been discharged from hospital after being treated for coronavirus.

It comes on a day when a further 737 people were reported to have died in hospital, taking the death toll caused by the virus in the UK over the 10,000 mark.

Mr Johnson was admitted to St Thomas’ Hospital, in London, last Sunday, 10 days after testing positive for coronavirus.

The 55-year-old had three nights in intensive care before returning to a ward on Thursday, but has now been allowed home.

However, he will not be returning to work immediately and will continue his recovery at his country residence, Chequers.

A spokesman said: ‘On the advice of his medical team, the PM will not be immediately returning to work.

‘He wishes to thank everybody at St Thomas’ for the brilliant care he has received.

‘All of his thoughts are with those affected by this illness.’

Meanwhile, comedian Tim Brooke-Taylor has died at the age of 79 with coronavirus, his agent has confirmed.

The entertainer, best known as one third of the popular 1970s show The Goodies, and I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue, died on Sunday.
