A meeting held in Tenby this week to discuss issues surrounding health services for the town has been described as "very positive" by a local councillor.

The meeting, which was organised by the local health board, and held at the De Valence Pavilion, took place on Tuesday.

"It was a very positive meeting," Clr. Mrs. Caroline Thomas told her colleagues at Tuesday night's meeting of the town council.

"At the meeting, Peter Llewellyn provided a very good report on transport issues relating to health services in the area, and leaflets will be available at the town council offices and at Tenby Surgery to help people with these issues," continued Clr. Mrs. Thomas, who is also secretary of the South East Pembrokeshire Community Health Network.

Clr. Mrs. Tish Rossiter said that she, too, attended the meeting, but felt it wasn't as beneficial as it should have been.

"It seemed to me that the meeting was going the way as previous health meetings that have been held for the area, with lots and lots of talking and people introducing themselves, but not really getting down to the nitty-gritty of what we wanted to hear about with regards to Tenby Surgery and Withybush Hospital," she remarked.

The town council also received a request from AM Angela Burns for more signage for the Minor Injuries Unit at Tenby Cottage Hospital, which is manned during the summer months by the Red Cross.

"This was mentioned at the meeting, and more should be put up around the town by the summer," said Clr. Mrs Thomas.

A further meeting of the South East Pembrokeshire Community Health Network is due to take place on Tuesday, July 14, at 2 pm, at New Hedges Village Hall, where an update on the local health board meeting will be given.
