A RETIRED aerobatic aircraft has landed at Davidstow Airfield and Cornwall at War Museum. The Hawker Hunter F6 XG 164 arrived at the museum last week, after its wings were removed and transported via lorry from Somerset. The plane was built in 1956 and its early life was with 111 Sqn, which flew Hunters as the Black Arrows aerobatic display team, know today as the Red Arrows. A spokesperson from the museum said: "This aircraft is an important addition to the museum's expanding displays and it also has interesting local associations. "It was a Hunter that crashed into Tintagel on July 6, 1979, after the pilot Alick Nicholson, ejected over the sea. The aircraft then changed course and headed for Tintagel with the wreckage coming to rest between two houses — miraculously no-one was seriously hurt."
