ROSS Lashbrook (Launceston College) won three titles at the Cornwall Dairy Crest Davidstow Under-17 Championships 2008/9 which were held at Penryn College on Sunday January 11.

In the Boys' Singles Ross beat Patrick Davis (both Launceston College) 24-22, 21-10.

A fantastic final with Patrick dominating the opening stages taking an early 9-3 lead. Ross held on and a nail biting ending with great rallies resulted in Ross taking the first end. Patrick was unable to dominate in the second and Ross powered to victory.

Ross and Patrick won the Boys' Doubles with a 21-10, 21-8 victory over James Payne (Callington) and Trevelyan Greenhall (Helston College) in the final.

Ross and Patrick took the game to their opponents and were ruthless in their attack. Quality serving and a sheer determination to dictate the rallies resulted in a strong performance.

James is the shining light of the new group of players who entered U-17s this season and will no doubt be back in the finals next year.

Johanna Philp (Port Isaac/Truro School) with powerful play beat Bronwen Wotton (Truro College) in the Girls' Singles final 21-12, 21-8.

The Girls' Doubles was played as a round robin: winners, Bethany Wotton and Imogen Powell (Truro School) 63pts; runners-up, Bronwen Wotton and Lorna Garbett (Callington College).

Ross and Bronwen with a ruthless display of clinical Mixed Doubles tactics beat Tony Marshall and Johanna Philp 21-10, 21-9 in the final.
