SINCE August, 1971, Harvey Kendall from Bude has been climbing Shalder Hill each day, 365 days a year, rain or shine to record the weather readings at the Meteorological Station in Bude.

To mark his 40th anniversary as Bude's Meteorological Officer, Harvey and his wife, Gill, were invited by Bude-Stratton Town Council to attend a special Heritage Day lunch at The Castle.

Other guests included the Mayor of Bude-Stratton Town Council and his consort together with Mayors and consorts from Holsworthy, Bideford and Bodmin.
