HARVEY the daschund from Launceston was unimpressed when he met Martin Clunes after the ‘Doc’ mistook him for a girl and made fun of his collar.

On Tuesday, May 2, Harvey and his human, Fran Grinter, visited Port Issac and watched on with a number of other dog owners and spectators as the popular ITV show ‘Doc Martin’ was filmed in the streets of ‘Portwenn’.

During filming breaks Mr Clunes, a notorious dog lover, was seen conversing with onlookers and taking it in turns to stroke their canine friends.

When he got round to meeting Harvey however he was in for a surprised as the sassy pooch was seen to turn the other cheek after Mr Clunes mistook him for a ‘her’.

Owner Fran said: “Martin kept taking breaks between filming to stroke all the dogs that were around; when he got to Harvey he called him a cute little girl, and was surprised when I told him he was actually a boy, referring to his purple flowery collar as ‘not very rugged’ and a ‘bit camp’, suggesting putting him in something leather and spiky instead!”

When asked if Harvey will be taking on the critique from the TV star, Fran said: “I think Harvey is quite happy with his flowery collar! He’s not exactly the most macho of dogs!”
