ST BREWARD Church celebrated Harvest Festival with a dedicated Sunday communion service with, on the following Monday, a short evening Harvest service with supper and auction in the village hall. With the traditional pasty and scrumptious selection of sweets, the supper was soon polished off before starting on the serious business of auctioning off the donated produce. From fresh fruit and vegetables to the unusual combinations of tins of curry and rice pudding, the lots were briskly sold to the highest bidders by auctioneer churchwarden Paddy McShee and his team of young helpers, Jack Coleman and Matthew Nettleton.
