ON A very wet, blustery evening on Friday, October 12, a surprising good number of people gathered for the harvest songs of praise at Hallworthy Market.

St Gennys Band led enthusiastic singing and the Rev Linda Barriball gave a very appropriate address. The congregation were privileged to have three songs from the talented Elizabeth Hobbs. A collection was taken in support of the charity HeartSWell, which after expenses amounted to £140.

At the close, everyone was ready for the refreshments in the cafe kindly provided by Kivells Auctioneers. This was followed by a grand auction of goods in the Wilsey, also in aid of HeartSWell, which raised £1,350.

A spokesperson from the event said: “We are grateful to all those who helped to make the evening such a success.”

The next event will be the Carols at the Market with Camelford Town Band on December 21 at 7.30pm.
