AN efficient, battling display from Bradworthy was enough to give them a deserved three points in a potentially tricky match against Ilfracombe.
Dealing with the wind, mist and a heavy surface it was the visitors who started more brightly, putting Brad's back line under some early pressure. They stood strong though and were rewarded when the industrious Luke Potter timed his run perfectly to poke home Carlo Chandler's flick on.
As both sides battled for possession on the increasingly muddy surface it took more than a small slice of luck for Bradworthy to double their advantage. A weak goal kick was returned first time by Chandler and, whether through intention or luck, the ball trickled over the goal-line.
Brad' thought they had increased their lead further on the stroke of half time. Gary Clarke's deflected shot looped towards the far post and the 'combe 'keeper could only spill the ball into his own net under pressure from Chandler. Although there appeared minimal contact the referee saw enough to award a free kick against the Brad' forward.
Conditions deteriorated further in the second half but Ilfracombe, buoyed by the half time break, came strongly at Bradworthy again. On a number of occasions young 'keeper Will Radford handled superbly under pressure and defenders Damian French and Tim Summers found themselves in the right place to block any half chances created.
The game was settled as Chandler turned creator again; this time it was his strike partner Toby Curtis who benefited from his flick on, turning to fire home from close range on the sodden turf.
The visitors continued to press but Bradworthy stood firm, their best chance narrowly clearing the bar as a combination of Summers, Radford and Liam Curtis did just enough to put off the 'combe forward.
The final whistle blew and Bradworthy's hard working display had earned them the three points and clean sheet they deserved.
