AFTER weeks of hard work and effort, the Launceston Rotary Community Shop was officially opened on Monday by the town's mayor, Cllr Rob Tremain.

Rotarian Peter Casey started the proceedings and thanked everyone for attending.

He not only welcomed the Mayor and Mayoress, but also Maxine Stoyel, the Rotary District Governor and Launceston Rotary President, Leighton Penhale.

Peter said: "The concept behind this shop is simple — volunteers from the community run the shop and sell items donated by members of the community, the profits of those sales then return to the local community."
