BUDE’S oldest resident, Lawrence Ashton Burrow, celebrated his 100th birthday on Saturday, April 7.
Mr Burrow said he was very pleased to have received a congratulatory birthday card from the Queen, together with numerous cards from family and friends. During the evening, a reception was held at the Falcon Hotel for Mr Burrow, followed by a dinner with his family and friends.
Mr Burrow has had many achievements in his time, one of which was being asked to open Bude’s new Premier Inn hotel, which opened in January.
When asked, Mr Burrow said that his longevity was due to his penchant for brandy and lovage — and good Cornish food.
