A music student from Halwill has reached the Miss England finals.

Twenty-year-old Abby Knight reached the semi-finals round of Miss England back in September this year, but after competing in the FABUK top model competition more recently she has been fast tracked to the finals.

The FABUK event took place in the Taj Hotel in London.

Abby had to walk two runways — one in a black cocktail dress and the other in a designer wedding dress fitted by Puneet Bhandal.

From this Abby took home a second-place award and was sent straight into the Miss England finals.

Abby is currently living and studying in Falmouth away from her family home in Halwill while she completes her university degree in music. A keen musician and composer, Abby spends her days composing music for documentaries and nature clips as well as playing the piano.

Having first gained an interest in modelling after picking up a part time job for a photographer in London, Abby felt encouraged to send in an application to Miss England.

Abby explains: “I went through a voting process and was selected by the judges after an interview to go into the semi-finals. This is the first pageant I’ve entered, so have no experience apart from modelling part time!”

As part of the entry requirements, Abby has to raise money for a charity.

She has chosen to raise money for the Papyrus charity who support young people with suicide prevention schemes.

She explained: “I have done a lot of volunteering abroad in the past and it’s something I really enjoy so I would love to get more people involved!

“I have also had to create a PowerPoint about my hometown and explain why it is so amazing and everything it has to offer.

Abby said: “I am looking forward to the finals, I am raising money through my Instagram @abbyx_rosex and am also working with brands in partnership with Miss England.”
