HALWILL resident, Mrs Elizabeth Aegeter, who is known to many as 'Cush,' recently celebrated her 100th birthday. Born in Scotland and christened Elizabeth Mary she was soon to be given the nickname of Cush, though the reason for this is lost in the 'mist of time,' Cush is how she is known to all her friends and family.

Moving to London as a child, she then met Robert Aegeter who she married in 1936 and had their first son Gordon, before a long separation.

Bob was a Japanese POW throughout many years of the Second World War. After a spell of care from the Americans he was repatriated into the care of his beloved Cush.
