THE Top Town Memory Café in Camelford celebrated Burns Night with a haggis event at the town’s Clease Hall on Wednesday, January 24.
Although there was a slightly smaller turnout than normal due to hospital appointments and illness, secretary Jane Moore said it was still an excellent afternoon.
She said: “It went very well and it was a good session. We gave out a lot of Scottish information, as well as taking part in two quizzes, eating haggis, neeps and tatties, which was followed by cranachan — a Scottish raspberry dessert. We then ended the afternoon with a Scottish sing-along.”
The memory café, which started in November 2015 and has been at the Clease Hall since March 2016, runs on the second and fourth Wednesdays of every month from 2pm-4pm.
It is supported by the Cornwall Rural Community Charity and is run by volunteers for free. It gives community support for people with memory impairment and their carers or family members by providing free entertainment and food.
The next event is on Valentine’s Day (February 14) where painting with acryllics will be the main activity.
Jane said: “We try to give different themes and vary it so people with different interests can try out other things, please come along and see what we do.”
