St Giles-on-the-Heath Womens Guild presented a cheque for £620 to the Longhouse Appeal at its September meeting, the guild’s chosen charity for this year.
Jenny Richardson from North Devon Hospice’s fundraising team, who went along to receive the cheque, said: “I would like to express our sincere thanks for the wonderful donation of £620 towards funding North Devon Hospice Long House.
“The Long House was officially opened on September 3 and will make a huge difference to the lives of those affected by cancer and other life-limiting illnesses in the wider Holsworthy area.
“Your support is an invaluable contribution and again I would like to thank you on behalf of everyone at North Devon Hospice as well as the many patients and families we care for.”
The money was raised at a bring and buy sale held earlier in the year and at the guild’s summer fete in June, their main fundraising event.
Trish Shanks, secretary of the guild said: “The fete was a huge success with lots of local people coming along to support such an important local charity.
“The guild would like to express thanks to all the members, helpers and everyone who supported us.”
