GUIDE Dogs is looking for volunteers to become counter-top collection box co-ordinators in Bude and Launceston to support the charity's 'Every Penny Counts' campaign.

The aim of the campaign is to raise £1 million over the next three years, with the iconic dog-shaped collection boxes appearing in 40,000 new locations across the UK.

As a Guide Dogs collection box co-ordinator, volunteers place the boxes with local shops and businesses, empty them every few months and pay the funds in to Guide Dogs. The role is flexible and enables people to become more active in their local community.

Cornwall's local fundraising branches are also calling for volunteers to help out at events and on collections.

Sharon Heard, regional volunteering co-ordinator said: "The guide dog service is supported entirely by the generosity of the public, every penny collected helps make a life-changing difference to blind and partially sighted people.

"We could not raise these vital funds without the support of our volunteers — just a few hours is all it takes to make a difference."
