THE Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Growth Hub took its roadshow to Launceston last week, saying it wants to see businesses in Cornwall ‘flourish’.
The Growth Hub ‘On The Road’ held a ‘Town Takeover’ in Launceston on Friday, February 24.
Members of the Growth Hub team were on hand throughout the event to provide the public with information about what services are on offer.
Growth Hub, which started last May, is a full-funded, business support service, providing a single point of access to information and guidance for businesses in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
Businesses signing up for the service can expect a free business review, with business connector, from the Growth Hub team.
Throughout the day there were a number of free workshops at venues around Launceston.
There was a networking breakfast at Firebrand in the morning, in conjunction with TME. Then there were workshops on export and online productivity at The Liberty Suite, Jericho’s Kitchen, and a workshop in the evening on business funding with Oxford Innovation at The Business Space.
During the day there were pop-up stalls in the town square, the White Hart Hotel, and a pop-up shop at Pennygillam Industrial Estate.
Growth Hub representatives said they were pleased with the number and variety of businesses attending the workshops.
Growth Hub marketing account manager, Helen Bishop-Stephens, said: “There is a range and diversity of small businesses around Launceston, all benefitting from the free workshop programme provided by Growth Hub on the road.
“There are lots of businesses around Launceston. It’s a really vibrant place. We wanted to get out there and meet them.”
Richard Scutt, Growth Hub senior business connector, said: “We are really keen to support all of Cornwall. There’s support out there. We are a one-stop-shop. Our thing is to get businesses in Cornwall flourishing.”
The Growth Hub on the Road is supported by the EU’s European Regional Development Fund, Cornwall Council, Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, and the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Local Enterprise Partnership.
